What happens in the eye examination?

At Envision Eyecare, we ensure every student has a comprehensive bulk-billed eye examination and we will evaluate the following:

History and symptoms

How is their general health, are there any regular medications?

Are there any previous eye conditions?

Symptoms: Are they experiencing any blurry vision, headaches, sore eyes or red eyes?

Visual acuity

Can they see the board at school?

Can they focus on books and devices well?

Prescription assessment

What is their prescription?

OR Are current glasses still suitable?

Binocular vision assessment

Are there any eye turns?

How well do their eyes focus together to make things clear at near and in the distance?

How well do their eyes move together to help with fluency of reading?

Colour vision assessment

Can they see colours well? 

Anterior and posterior ocular health examination

Are their eyes healthy?

Are there any sight threatening eye conditions?

Report sent to parents/guardians

After the eye test, a report summarising results of the eye test will be sent to the parents/guardians.

Teachers will also be informed of any vision problems that may impact their student's learning.

Spectacle program

In cases where students have significant vision problems, parents/guardians will be contacted directly to discuss our optometrist’s recommendations and address any questions they may have.

Envision Eyecare also offers a spectacle program for students who need glasses.

At Envision Eyecare, we offer discounted Frame & Lens packages for students who need glasses and provide free glasses for eligible students through the NSW Spectacle Program

  • Yes, it is free for all schools and daycares. Envision Eyecare offers bulk-billed comprehensive eye tests conducted on-site at schools and only requires a room for testing.

  • Yes, all eye tests conducted on site will be covered by Medicare

  • Our optometrists are therapeutically qualified with special interest in paediatric optometry.

    The eye test will involve assessing the student’s vision, prescription, colour vision, binocular vision status and ocular health.
